Yahoo Acquired Astrid, A To-do List App

Astrid is a handy to-do list and reminder app for iOS and Android. Recently Yahoo! has acquired Astrid.

Astrid, based in San Francisco, was founded in 2008. From the beginning the goal of Astrid mobile app was “Happier, healthier, more productive” and hence within short time, Astrid became one of the favorite to-do list and personal assistant mobile apps to people. People can create lists and sync them up across their devices and the web. It also allows family and friends to collaborate on projects, dividing up tasks and sending reminders. In addition, the app also screens incoming calls, which people can choose to answer, ignore, or set a reminder to call the person back. Till now more than 4 million people have downloaded this app and has collected $400,000 in total funding.

Recently, Yahoo! has acquired Astrid. A Yahoo spokeswoman said, “We’re excited to welcome Astrid to Yahoo!’s mobile team. Their background in personalized mobile experiences is impressive, and we know they will be a huge asset to as we continue to re-imagine our products. The team will focus on some exciting products and experiences that are core to Yahoo! mobile, and they have a lot in store.”

On the other hand, Astrid has mentioned in a blog post that “Over the next 90 days, Astrid will continue to work as is, and we will no longer be accepting new premium subscriptions.”
