Neil Armstrong was the first person who landed on the Moon first, but can you remember the name of the second person who landed on the Moon after Neil Armstrong? It’s Buzz Aldrin (also know as Edwin Aldrin). Recently, 83-year-old Buzz Aldrin announced that he plans to take people to Mars by 2035.
Buzz Aldrin was the lunar module pilot of Apollo 11. Although he retired from NASA in 1971, he did not forget the space, rather he started thinking about space. Aldrin has written a book named “Mission to Mars: My Vision for Space Exploration” in which he has outlined his vision for taking humans to Mars by 2035.
Aldrin’s proposal involves establishing a base for three-person crews on a Moon of Mars and then taking humans to the red planet from there. He envisions a cooperative effort with other countries including China, Russian, and Japan, but with United States in the lead.
Aldrin said, “We have an opportunity for American leadership to go down in history making a commitment that will be remembered for thousands of years. Why would we not take it?”
