When Pebble initially landed on KickStarter, it was able to generate a lot of debate and intrigue many. As a result, the KickStarter campaign for the smartwatch soon attracted more than $10 million as thousands thronged to back it up, making it one of the most successful projects of the funds crowdsourcing site.

Before shipping out the smartwatch to the general public, the company is focused on ensuring that the 85,000 people who backed the project get to receive the product at the earliest. In a recent update dished out by the Pebble team, it has announced that during the next 6 to 12 months, it will be focused on rolling out the Pebble units for the 190,000 non-KickStarter reservations it has received so far.

According to Pebble CEO, Eric Migicovsky, the software team of Pebble is “focused on crafting a developer experience that allows 3rd party developers to access deeper down into pebble and to basically write watch apps that communicate from the watch to the Web and the phone.”

The company has partnered with a number of retail giants to bring the product to a wider audience and from the looks of pre-order numbers, it seems that the strategy is proving successful.
