Windows Phone users have been waiting for an update that Microsoft has been readying for a while now. The company is calling it ‘General Distribution Release 3’ but just ahead of its formal release, screenshots posted on the web divulge the features that the update offers.

It has been speculated that Microsoft may be including a multitasking view feature in the new update. The feature lets the users view the running apps and close them in a multitasking interface. One screenshot also shows the Driving Mode feature. It is meant to automatically mute calls and texts when you are using your handset while it is being paired to the car via Bluetooth.

The company also seems to have added support for screen rotation. Rumors have it that Microsoft may furnish the option of setting custom sounds for text, email and reminders in the upcoming update. Although in most cases, it can be hard to discern if such leaked screenshots are for real, this time The Verge has vouched for these photos, assuring their authenticity.

Although the said update is actually meant for Nokia Lumia 1520, which is yet to be released, many current devices will also get the update and so, will be able to make use of the new features offered in it.
