iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C Get The Green Signal For China Mobile

Every time Apple launches a new handset, it’s an uphill battle for the company to have the handset approved in the Chinese market. In the case of iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, it is only now that Apple has been granted regulatory approval. This means that we may soon see China Mobile carrying the new handsets.

iPhone regulatory approval

Apple probably submitted the new handset to Chinese regulatory authorities a while ago. Whereas the company was able to launch both iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C in many other parts of the world, this wasn’t possible until now because the Chinese regulatory authorities were taking their time.

Since China Mobile has sealed a deal with Apple to officially carry the new iPhone handsets, the regulatory authorities had to see if the new smartphones were compatible with the carrier’s TD-LTE network. TD-LTE is a unique variant of 3G connectivity and is currently used only by China Mobile.

Now that the regulatory glitches are out of the way, we can expect China Mobile to start offering the new iPhone handsets soon. The carrier has a huge subscriber base of 800 million users yet surprisingly, it hasn’t officially carried any single iPhone handset so far.

Just ahead of the launch of iPhone 5S, Apple was able to reach a deal with China Mobile after a lot of negotiations. As a result of this deal, we can expect that the sales of the new iPhone handsets in China are going to be very strong.
