Amazon Seals A Deal With Epix, Gets Instant Access To Blockbusters

Epix is a movie service which provides the latest content from a number of America’s major studios. These include names like Paramount Pictures and Lionsgate. The company formerly had an agreement with Neflix to stream exclusive content for it. Now, Amazon seems to have bagged the prize.

The deal between Neflix and Epix ended in August this year. So we can surmise that Amazon was probably waiting for the moment and was quick to act. Before we have reached the end of the first week of September, the online retail giant has already sealed a deal with Epix.

With the help of this deal, Amazon will now be able to stream latest blockbuster movies through the Prime Instant video service for free. Amazon, however, has to wait for a mere 90 days after a movie’s release and then it can stream it to its users. The significance of this deal can be gauged by the fact that Amazon will now be able to stream movies such as The Avenger, Thor, The Hunger Games and other through its Prime service.

However, not all Amazon users will have access to it. Rather, the video library that features all the Prime content is limited only to Amazon’s Prime membership, which costs a cool $79 a year. The retailer is expected to make yet another announcement regarding Hollywood content during the launch event of the next Kindle tablet; waiting just around the corner.
