Quadski: The World’s First High-Speed Amphibious Vehicle – Coming This Year

Imagine a vehicle that is running on land and few minutes later you find that same vehicle running on water in full speed. What does that mean to you? You might be thinking that I’m talking about a movie of James Bond. But I’m sorry to say, I’m not. I’m talking about a real vehicle named Quadski called that can run on land as well as on water. The is the world’s first high-speed amphibious vehicle. After spending $200 million, building 9 prototypes and amassing more than 300 patents, Michigan-based Gibbs Sports Amphibians Inc. has made the world’s first high-speed amphibious vehicle – Quadski. This high-speed amphibious vehicle has only one seat, means only one person can ride on it.

The vehicle can run 45 miles per hour on both land and water. In order to drive Quadski on water, the driver just needs to push a button and the wheels will start retracting upward. After five seconds, the driver is ready to drive his Quadski on water.

The Quadski is being made at the company’s Auburn Hills, Mich. factory. At present, Gibbs Sports Amphibians Inc. has 100 employees at the factory. But the company plans to recruit more 50 employee and at then the company plans to produce 20 Quadskis per day.

However, this high-speed amphibious vehicle will be available in the U.S. by the end of this year. Its price will be around $40,000. By 2014, Quadski will be available worldwide. However, the Quadski’s maker Gibbs Sports Amphibians, hopes to sell 1,000 Quadski next year.
