Android Ice Cream Sandwich has been released by Google since quite some time. However, it has gained really slow traction in the world of Android devices since a lot of vendors have rolled out the update quite late. Now, Google has revealed that out of total Android users, 7.1 percent are currently using Ice Cream Sandwich.
However, this number is quite surprising since just a few months ago, ICS was nearly non-existent in the world of Android devices. The most notable Android vendors, such as Samsung, have been reluctant in shipping out the update which cause quite an annoyance among the Android user base.
Within the last two months, though, ICS has registered an excellent progress in terms of numbers. About two months ago, ICS users accounted for a mere 2.9 percent of total Android users. The rise to 7.1 percent within two months is a tremendous achievement.
Naturally, the largest share comes from Gingerbread users, the iteration of Android which was released prior to Honeycomb. Currently, Gingerbread users account for 65 percent of the total Android users’ base.
Although the figures for ICS users grew during the last two months, those of Gingerbread also grew over this time. Honeycomb, meanwhile, accounts for a mere 2.7% of Android users.
