Asus is preparing to release a new nettop repeating the same format of previous models called EB1501P.Another EeeBox is coming our way courtesy of Taiwanese heavyweight Asus and it makes use of a dual-core Atom processor and Nvidia’s ION 2 graphics solution…..
Asus has more nettops than you can shake a stick out along with one of the largest catalogs of netbooks on the market. The company generally crams the latest tech into a few of its models and a new version of its EeeBox has surfaced that sports new hardware.
We’re still waiting on leaked (or official, we’re not partial) images to confirm, but based on a presentation slide and a bit of insider information passed on to Notebook Italia, ASUS is gearing up to replace its aging EeeBox EB1501 with the EB1501P. Reportedly, the box will be based around Intel’s dual-core Atom D525 processor and will feature NVIDIA’s Ion GPU, a 250GB hard drive, 2GB of DDR3 memory, 802.11n WiFi, an HDMI output, six USB sockets and Bluetooth.
The EeeBox EB1501P is the name of the little rig that looks like many of the other nettops from Asus on the outside. As mama always said, it’s what’s on the inside that counts though. The little nettop gets NVIDIA next-generation Ion graphics.
Measuring just 193 (W)x 193 (H) x 39 (D) mm, the new EeeBox packs a 1.8 GHz Atom D525 CPU, 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, a ION 2 GPU, a slot-in DVD writer, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n/ WiFi, a card reader, and a HDMI output, and runs Windows 7 Home Premium.
Electricpig say that ASUS UK has confirmed the EB1501P, which will apparently hit the UK in late Q3 or early Q4 priced at £379.99 ($602).
That aligns quite nicely with the EB1501U (shown above) that we spotted back at CeBIT, which has yet to launch in any capacity since. A proper introduction at IFA, perhaps? We’ll be watching, ASUS.
