No More iOS Update for iPhone 3G Including Unlocks and Jailbreaks

iPhone Dev Team member MuscleNerd has tweeted that because the iPhone 3G will not be given the iOS 4.3 update by Apple. There will be no downgrade solution for users who have updated their iPhone 3G’s baseband to the special iPad baseband 06.15.00 in order to unlock.Previously, Apple has released iOS 4.3 beta firmware that brings lots of new features which said it cleared to the iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G users that they cannot install the firmware which means now iPhone 3G has become unlockable for lifetime.

You can take a look at MuscleNerds tweet below.

According to his tweet:

Because there’s no 4.3 beta for iPhone3G, it’s effectively unlocked for life via the 06.15 ultrasn0w unlock

It means that iPhone 3G or older models will not going to be entertain in future by Apple. Now, at this point iPhone 3G has been sticked to the iOS 4.2.1 update so it’s compatible jailbreak and unlock version. It is an unfortunate fact however, that this downgrade solution will not work for the iPhone 3G.

Hi, I am confused with the article. I have a 3gs with baseband 06.15.
What’s the relationship between the version Apple releases and the baseband being impossible to downgrade. Why it became impossible to one day downgrade from 06.15 to, lets say, 05.13.01Thanks
