Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 has been rooted

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 has been out in the market for quiet sometime and we expect it to happen. Yes, Xperia X10 has been rooted by a user over XDA-Developer Forums. The guide to root it yourself is now available. So if you want to have a lil more control over your Xperia X10, then just head over the XDA and check it out yourself……

When a manufacturer releases a handset, the software by which it is powered usually gets some sort of lock down for obvious security reasons. If you’ve been an iPhone user since the early days you’ll most likely know that they has been some community hard at work on jailbreaking Apple’s devices. While they have succeeded, every new release of the iPhone OS (now known as iOS) brings with it a fix for some of the most commonly used jailbreaking methods.

Jailbreaking your device gives it a whole new level of functionality not limited to but including the ability to install pirated applications, unlock illegal tethering and change key elements of the phone’s operating system that would otherwise not be accessible. While these are some blackhat features, not all uses are looking to use jailbreaking for illegal activities.

In fact, the only way to get the iPhone to work on other carriers (T-Mobile, in particular) is to jailbreak the device and then unlock its bands. Upon doing this you will be able to use it on any compatible carrier you want.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is one of the latest Android powered devices to hit the market and up until now it remained unrooted. Luckily, the guys over at xda-developers have reached a method to root the device and has released the steps for all to see.

The X10 proved to be a tough nut to crack. Developers at XDA have been working since March to root the X10, and a community-funded bounty reached as high $1,650 on June 11. Now that Bin4ryDigit and others have achieved root, you can count on more work going into enhancing the X10. You may even see bits of newer software versions beyond 1.6 before SE releases an official update.

Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X10 has been out and about for some time, facing off against the competition and predictably getting ripped to shreds. Now it has reached the next natural step of its evolution: receiving the root treatment by a bloke at xda-developers. User Bin4ry over there has posted step-by-step instructions on how to locate your device ID, re-flash your phone, and then enable superuser abilities. It all looks particularly straightforward, as far as these things go, and so if you’re looking for a bit more control this weekend don’t hesitate to click on through.

When a new Android device is released, a bounty is set by the developers for the first person to get access to the root. The bounty amount on the X10 rose up to $1650 last month, which is finally achieved by jerpelea, biktor_gj and bin4ry of the xda forums. Now, all the X10 users have a reason to cheer because they will not be bound with the outdated Android 1.6 on their device anymore.

Now we don’t have to wait for art and their useless customer service that gave the most ridiculous excuses when asking for help to unlock or update the phone.

I am having the same problem. It says “For security, your phone is set to block installation of applications not sourced in Android Market.” Have you figured out how to correct it?
