Apple Reveals iPad Mini With Retina Display, Starts At $399

Apple has announced many important products today. The key announcements from the company include two new iPad tablets, the iPad Air and the new iPad Mini. The new model of the smaller slate arrives with the much-awaited Retina display and carries a starting price tag of $399.

iPad Mini with Retina

Rumors of Apple readying a Retina-equipped iPad mini have been around for quite some time now. It’s good to see that Apple has lived up the expectations of the customers and added a stunning 2048 x 1536 pxdisplay to the 7.9-incher.

As with iPad Air, Apple has equipped the new iPad mini with a 64-bit desktop-grade A7 chip which, the company claims, will offer up to 4X faster computing speeds and up to 8X faster graphical performance. Much to the disappointment of some, though, the tablet lacks the iconic TouchID sensor which Apple has added to iPhone 5S.

There aren’t any changes to overall outlook and design of the slate and it looks pretty much like the original iPad mini. The slate costs $399 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model while the 16GB WiFi+Cellular model costs $529. You can have the tablet in space grey and black or in silver and white.

Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, stopped short of providing a definite date for the availability of Retina iPad Mini. Cook merely said that the slate will be launched ‘later in November.’ Interestingly, Apple has dipped the prices of the original iPad Mini, with the 16GB WiFi model now costing a mere $299. Between the original iPad Mini, the new Retina-equipped iPad Mini and the new iPad Air, you have a lot of affordable yet top-end tablets to choose from.

Old iPad Mini is still available at reduced $299 USD, its $30 USD cheaper then original $329 pricing.
