HP Readies Two New Tablets, Waiting For FCC Approval

HP‘s repeated attempts to break into the tablet market haven’t exactly been a success. But you’ve got to hand it to the company that it has not given up. It would now appear that HP has submitted two new slates to FCC and once they receive regulatory approval, HP will launch these ten inchers.

HP

One of the upcoming HP slates that is pending approval is the HP Slate 10 HD. This tablet packs a 10-inch 1280 x 800 display, which may not sound too impressive in an arena where other tablets hold significantly higher display resolutions. Slate 10 HD is juiced up with a Marvell PXA986 processor and runs Android.

Without a doubt, this isn’t exactly a high-end tablet. Rather, HP is hoping to woo the crowd by offering budget-friendly slates. It remains to be seen how that strategy works out once HP makes the slate available some time in November.

The other HP tablet over at FCC is the HP 10 1900. The name signifies that this, too, is a ten-incher and other details known about this tablet are that it supports cellular data over both GSM and WCDMA networks. Moreover, the tablet will arrive with option for a microSD card and includes from and rear cameras.

HP’s tablets have shown promise but the recent past of the tablet arena shows that it is really hard for a vendor to make any splashes by relying on mid-range tablets alone. Sooner or later, HP’s fate in the tablet market will be defined by what, and if any, top-end tablets are offered by the company.
