iPad Sales Help Kickstart Strong Holiday Shopping Season For Target And Walmart

Tablets and smartphones have come about to constitute a significant portion of sales mustered during the holiday season. Walmart and Target confirm this as both retailers announced a strong start to the holiday season, thanks to iPad sales.

Target and Walmart are among the retail giants which witness windfall sales every year during the holiday season. On the just past Black Friday, Target.com announced that it mustered a very strong start to the holiday season with unprecedented sales.

iPad Air sales contributed significantly to this achievement, with the tablet running out of stock by mid-morning. Jeff Jones, an executive from Target, stated, “Starting in the early morning hours of Thanksgiving Day on Target.com, through our Thanksgiving night store openings, traffic across all channels was strong. I’m excited to see how guests respond to Target’s unbeatable value through this weekend, CyberWeek and the rest of the holiday season.”

Walmart reported a similarly profitable start to the winter holidays. According to the retail giant, it witnessed ‘record-breaking Black Friday results.’ The company has sold more than 1.4 million tablets while the yet weekned is yet to expire, to which iPad Mini sales have significantly contributed.

According to Bill Simon, the CEO of Walmart, “Our Black Friday events were bigger, better, faster, cheaper and safer than ever. More customers chose us, we had the prices and products they were looking for, and we’re not finished yet. Helping families get ready for a great Christmas – and get a lot of great deals while they’re at it – is exactly what we’re going to continue to do.”
