[Tips] How To Create An Ideal Password And Keep It Safe

Today we use passwords everywhere, to access our emails, files, to pay bills, to enter chat… and its not easy to retain so many passwords. Some users tend to use the same password everywhere, create simple passwords in order to easily remember them or use online software to manage their passwords which is dangerous because if this account got hacked they can easily lose all their passwords. In order to help you create quality password and advice you on how to protect it we will give you 9 tips on what to do.

Tip 1: Numbers, letters and characters

It is more difficult to remember, but much harder to figure out the password for those who want to hack it if we use numbers or letters. So use numbers and letters, and even a character as an underscore, #, &, $ …

Tip 2: Easy to remember but not obvious

Do not use easy to remember passwords such as 1234, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.. If possible, use something that’s not associated with you but on the other hand, you can easily remember it.

Tip 3: Different Passwords

Do you have the same password on every site where you are registered? Wrong … because if someone hacks or find a password from one of your websites, they can very easily access all your accounts on which you use that same password. Recently there was a leak of passwords on Yahoo, Gmail, AOL, LinkedIn…, if one of those passwords were yours they could easily access to your Facebook or any other account on which you use the same password.

Tip 4: Do not be predictable

You must have a logical password so you can remember it, yet not be too predictable. For example, if you are an attorney and your favorite number is 2, you should not use something like attorney_2 as a password, it would be pretty easy to guess by someone who knows you pretty well.

Tip 5: Do not share your password

This is something that a lot of people do, sharing passwords with their relative, friend, family member, coworker… Even if we trust these people it doesn’t mean that they wont give it to someone else or keep it safe like you do. Keep your password only for yourself and don’t share it with anyone no matter how much you trust them. If you really need to do that here is a good tutorial on how to do it on safe way.

Tip 6: Length

Neither long nor short, everything in perspective. Do not use a 4 character password because it would be very unsafe but also do not go over 32 characters The goal is to remember that while it is difficult to guess or obtain, so we recommend a length of approximately 8 to 15 characters.

Tip 7: Password used in public

From time to time we have to login into our accounts from public, friends or work computers. Be careful that someone don’t see your password and, if necessary hide a keyboard while you are typing. Also make sure that check box in front “Remember this password” is ALWAYS unchecked before you click on Login button.

Tip 8: Reset password

If you are suspicious that you have forgotten to remove your password from someone else computer or that your password is not safe enough, change it, it will only take you 2-3 minutes and every account has this option which is easy to access.

Tip 9: Use standard characters

Finally, keep in mind not to use international characters like ñ, accents, etc… because it wont be always easy to find these characters on certain keyboard, so it will be best to use only standard characters.
