[Tutorial] How To Change Your Partition Volume Label In DOS

In modern advanced operating systems changing the name of partition volume label is very easy process like changing name of your folder or file. And when user wants to use DOS command prompt for this process a good old lable.exe utility comes to help. In this tutorial I will show you how to use this utility from DOS environment and rename your partition volume label.


To get started follow steps below

Step 1: Click Start menu, inside search field type cmd and press Enter on your keyboard

Step 2: Command Prompt window will open, first type cd\

Step 3: Now use following syntax LABEL [drive:][label] where [drive:] represent drive name e.g. C: and [label] represent a volume name to which you are changing. So for example if I want to change my drive C into name TheTechJournal I will type following command in Command prompt: LABEL c:thetechjournal
