Google+ Made 400 Million Sign-Ups Just In One Year, Active Users 100 Million

On Monday, September 17, Google announced a new milestone for its Google+ social networking platform. Google’s senior vice president of engineering Vic Gundotra, revealed that Google+ has made 400 million sign-ups just in one year, and among those sign-ups, the number of monthly active users is 100 million. The news comes at the one year mark of the social network’s debut to the public.

Google+ was launched in June 28, 2011. At Google I/O this spring, Google mentioned that there were 250 million total users of Google+ and among those users, 75 million users were active. Now, it has 400 million users and of them, 100 million are active. That’s a great achievement for Google+, which made a significant spike in total growth in just a few months.

Gundotra wrote, “It was only a year ago that we opened public sign-up, and we couldn’t have imagined that so many people would join in just 12 months. While Google+ is all about creating a better experience across Google, it’s also a destination.”

Comparing to social networking giant Facebook’s 955 million monthly active users, Google+’s monthly 100 million active users is a dwarf. But it has beat Facebook from one side. Facebook took 4 years to accumulate 100 million active users. But, Google+ did that just in one year.
