Dropbox Handles 1 Billion New Files Every Day

Dropbox may have only 100 million users, but these users save 1 billion users every day on the online storage service. This stat came out in a presentation by Dropbox’s CEO Drew Houston.

When Dropbox began its online storage service, files could be synced among PCs; gradually this has expanded to smartphones, tablets, and other internet connected devices. The service is now accessed from 500 million devices. Dropbox is hoping to add another 150 million devices by 2013.

In his speech Houston called upon mobile operators and device makers to assess the opportunities that partnerships with Dropbox will open. “We can tie a family together in a way that’s broader than just a billing relationship,” Houston said.
