YouTube Will Soon Let You Play Videos Offline

YouTube is the largest video-sharing hubs right now. However, one of the key problems with the site is that to stream videos on it, you must be connected to internet. Now, the YouTube team has announced that it will soon add the option of letting you watch YouTube videos offline too.

YouTube

The feature will be made available by next month. In an official blog post by the YouTube team, it has further been stated, “This upcoming feature will allow people to add videos to their device to watch for a short period when an Internet connection is unavailable. So your fans’ ability to enjoy your videos no longer has to be interrupted by something as commonplace as a morning commute.””

The video clips will be available offline on mobile apps as well, and you will still get to see ads in them. However, the prospect is certainly promising for YouTube itself, given the fact that it is sure to boast the overall viewership of the content.

There are some content publishers who may have a problem with their content becoming available offline. To avoid this, YouTube will also offer an option to the uploaders to opt out of this.

It must be noted here, however, that the clips which qualify for offline viewing will have to be saved by a viewer. And once he has saved his video clips, he will be able to view them for the next forty-eight hours. This, we are sure, is meant to placate the possibly anxious content publishers and at the same time, ensure that the online viewership doesn’t go down.
