Every year since 1901 the Nobel Prize has been awarded for achievements in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature and for Peace. Like previous years, the Nobel Prize winners for the year 2012 has already been announced. For the first time a Chinese man has won Nobel Prize in Literature. Nobel Prize

The Nobel Prize is an international award administered by the Nobel Foundation in Stockholm, Sweden. Each prize consists of a medal, personal diploma, and a cash award.However this year’s Nobel prize announcement has created a buzz. This is the very first time where a Chinese writer Mo Yan (57 year old ) has won the Nobel Prize in Literature. He is basically a novelist and a short-story writer. 2 people named Kobilka, Brian K. and Lefkowitz, Robert J. have been awarded for achievements in Chemistry. They both are from US. Another person from US named Wineland, David J. has been awarded for achievements in Physics. Haroche, Serge from France has also been awarded for achievements in Physics.

On the other side, Yamanaka, Shinya from Japan and Gurdon, Sir John Bertrand from UK – they both have been awarded for achievements in Physiology/Medicine. Surprisingly, the European Union (EU) has won the Nobel Prize in Peace. And EU’s Nobel Prize achievement in Peace has created a lot of good and bad criticism.

However, in 1968, Sveriges Riksbank established The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, founder of the Nobel Prize. Winner of The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences 2012 will be announced on October 15. The press conference is supposed to start at 1.00 pm CET. The press conference will be webcasted live at http://nobelprize.org.
