Apple startet das USB-Netzteil-Rücknahmeprogramm

In the recent past, it has been found that in a number of unfortunate incidents, consumers were harmed because of a counterfeit Apple charger. To help Apfel users avoid any such happenings, Apple has now launched the USB Power Adapter Takeback Program.

According to Apple, “recent reports have suggested that some counterfeit and third party adapters may not be designed properly and could result in safety issues.” This is certainly true because third-party manufacturers tend not to undertake the same diligence towards quality control as Apple itself does.

So, to placate the users and to let them have peace of mind while using Apple devices, the company has launched the aforementioned program. This program essentially allows you to walk into an Apple Store or an authorized service provider and pay up $10 to get your hands on a first-party iPhone, iPad or iPod plug. The deal also involves you returning whatever current charger you are using.

This doesn’t, however, mean that you can horde faulted third-party chargers and go exchange them for good ones. For now, the deal is limited to one charger per device. This is being done to ensure that potential scammers don’t try to make a profit out of it.

According to Apple, the Program will work between August 16th and October 18th. You can check out the Apple store locations closes to your place by visiting the official web page of the program here.
