Conceptual Bouncing Bridge Won ArchTriumph Design Award

There are 30 bridges over the Seine River in Paris, and French design firm Atelier Zundel Cristea (AZC) has come up with a bizarre design for one more. Instead of walking, running or biking to cross this bridge, travelers would cross the bridge through jumping. Check the details inside.

Proposed Inflatable Trampoline Bridge Over The River Seine

French design firm Atelier Zündel Cristea (AZC) has built many different and attractive structures including sports and cultural centers, convention halls, treasury offices etc. But the AZC wants to do something more different. AZC designed and submitted a bizarre bridge for a contemporary bridge design competition sponsored by ArchTriumph, which would be built near the existing Bir-Hakeim Bridge. This anomally designed bridge is called Bounce Bridge.

Bounce Bridge - 1

This proposed Bounce Bridge will have three giant trampolines. There will stairs and slides on both sides of the bridge. The diameter of each trampoline will be 30 meter. On the other side, each module under tension of this bridge will be filled with 3700 cubic meters of air and will have a trampoline mesh. But the fact is if the passers jump too far while crossing the bridge, they’ll fall into the Seine.

Bounce Bridge - 2

No doubt it is one of the different and innovative ideas I have ever seen. But unfortunately the Bouncy Bridge won third prize for its design. Artists Bridge, a footbridge with a bunch of boxlike studios for artists to work in jutting out from each side won the second prize and first prize went to Water at-traction, a bridge-cum-amphitheater on which people could sit and watch the river rolling by.
