Google Stadia: Is It Actually Netflix for Games?

Listen To This Article:

As you already know Google Stadia is a Gaming Console, just like Xbox and PlayStation. But instead of using a Disk to install a game, you can stream entire games using Stadia. Google Stadia is said to be capable of streaming video games up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second with support for high-dynamic-range.

There is a major difference between how Netflix operates and how Stadia will operate. Google Stadia does not give access to a Gaming Library on Subscription-basis. Instead, you have to buy games individually to play them on Stadia. On the other hand, Netflix lets you gain access to a library of Movies and Television Series on a Monthly Subscription basis. Google Stadia was first tested back in October 2018 on a closed beta running Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. It is scheduled to be launched in November 2019.

Google Stadia comes with a lot of draw-backs. One of which is it doesn’t host Free Games. Moreover, there are no major Game release plans announced for Stadia. Now that’s a bummer. If you want people to switch from other consoles to Google Stadia, good quality, high resolution is not going to be enough. You need to have a good collection of Games. But that doesn’t mean Google will not have free games on its platform. As far as we know, Google Stadia is promoting Destiny 2 which is not considered a good game.

Wrapping Up!

We aren’t optimistic neither are we pessimistic about how well Stadia will perform. Google has a bad track record of throwing out projects that don’t work. In the last few months alone they have scrapped projects i.e Hangouts on Air, Fabric, Google Translator Kit, Google Correlation. The list goes on.
