Google’s Secret Data Center In SF Bay Will Be An Exclusive Showroom!

Remember the report Google is secretly building a huge floating data center? Well, it’s going to be way cooler than a data center. Lately reports have it that this barge of Google will include luxury showrooms and a party deck, and it will be used to market Google Glass and other gadgets to invitation-only clients.

Google's Floating Data Center

Based on earlier reports we came to know that Google’s secret data center in SF bay is a four-storied structure and it was being called ‘Building 3.’ Google patented for such a floating data center in 2009. However, no one knew for which purpose this mysterious building will be used for? But now, it’s no more a secret.

According to a report from CBS’ San Francisco affiliate KPIX, Google will include luxury showrooms and a party deck to this four-storied structure. To be more specific, the first 3 floors of this structure will have “dazzling showrooms” that will be outfitted with Chrome features and floor lighting. The upper level will include a party deck that will feature bars and lanais. Google will use this barge to market Google Glass and other gadgets to invitation-only visitors.

What’s really amazing about this is building is it’s constructed with interchangeable 40-foot shipping containers. Basically, it can be assembled and disassembled over and over. This means it can be transported via barge or train to other locations.

Unfortunately the project is delayed because the U.S. Coast Guard has labeled it as a “floating vessel”, which means it has to be inspected to make sure it’s in compliance.
