HP Announces Printing And Personal Systems Group

We reported earlier that HP was working on merging it’s PCs and Printing groups into one. The move was apparently contemplated so as to cover for the slump in PC sales. Now, HP has announced that it has finally merged the two groups. The new unit has been aptly named ‘Printing and Personal System Group.’ This new unit will be headed by Todd Bradley.

With this new group, HP hopes that it will be able to improve performance of both it’s chief fronts, PCs and Printers. The merger is expected to help the two groups bring together its research resources and bring out better innovations and products, faster.

Todd Bradley is at the head of the new group. Bradley has been with HP for quite some time, being formerly the executive vice president of the Personal Systems Group (PSG). On the other hand, Vyomesh Joshi, who was executive vice president of IPG will be abandoning the company after a long career of 31 years with HP.

HP is banking heavily on this move since it involves two of its major products, PCs and Printers. With this move, the company is essentially hoping that it will be able to drive innovation in both products and also provide better customer experience. How HP intends to do this is, though, not yet clear. But we sure have our fingers crossed.
