IBM Acquires Worklight, Israeli Mobile Software Company

IBM announced yesterday “a definitive agreement to acquire Worklight”, a provider of mobile software for smartphones and tablets. The company has big plans for the Israeli-based firm that will allow IBM’s mobile offerings to expand and to deliver more solutions. “Worklight will become an important piece of IBM’s mobility strategy, offering clients an open platform that helps speed the delivery of existing and new mobile applications to multiple devices.


It also helps enable secure connections between smartphone and tablet applications with enterprise IT systems.” IBM representative explained that the clients are increasingly interested in the quality of IBM products and the new acquisition the company IBM will be able to deliver better solutions.

On the other side, Worklight CEO Shahar Kaminitz confirmed the news and explained in a letter to customers and employees reassured everyone that Worklight will keep the promises to partners. Shahar Kaminitz used the chance to thank the company employees and to send them a more personal message. “It makes me proud to have such a strong and diversified team by my side, as we join the IBM WebSphere group after close, and stay the course we charted early on.”

None of the companies revealed the financial terms of the agreement, but yet again this is the common procedure to keep this kind of information away from prying eyes and nosy reporters.
