Have you ever thought, what a smart highway would be like? Netherlands has a prototype. The design, envisioned by Dutch designer Daan Roosegaarde, has been created in collaboration with infrastructure management group Heijmans. Now, what would the smart highway actually do? A number of things; from showing informative signs in night to charging electric vehicles while driving.
First of all, Studio Roosegararde and Heijmans Infrastructure developed a special glow-light paint. Highways of Netherlands will be painted with it. The paint has special luminous powder. During the day, this luminous powder can “charge” itself from the sunlight and can glow itself during night up to 10 hours. Designers believe glow-in-the-dark paint will make night driving safer.
