Nuseti: The World’s First Mountain Bike With The Inner Drive System

Mountain bike (abbreviated MTB or ATB, for all-terrain bicycle) is created for off-road cycling. When bicycle riders are to go through mountain trails, fire roads, logging roads, or other unpaved environments, their first choice is mountain bike. However, there are many mountain bikes that come with many advanced systems. And now, Gregory Zielinski, multiple national championship winner of mountain bike downhill racing from Poland, has created Nuseti, the world’s first mountain bike that come with the inner drive system.

Rider Holding Mountain Bike Nuseti

Mountain bikes are built to handle different types of terrain commonly include rocks, washouts, ruts, loose sand, loose gravel, roots, and steep grades (both inclines and declines) and other obstacles that are found while riding. Mountain bike construction differs from a typical bicycle in many ways. The most noticeable differences are the inclusion of suspension on the frame and fork, larger knobby tires, more durable heavy duty wheels, more powerful brakes, and lower gear ratios needed for steep grades with poor traction.

World's First Mountain Bike Nuseti

Nuseti is a new generation mountain bike. Gregory Zielinski started to build this amazing mountain bike in 2008. As already mentioned, this bike is equipped with Inner Drive System (IDS). IDS is an innovative, completely encapsulated drive unit that is absolutely resistant to mechanical and weather factors. This makes the drive reliable, durable and clean.

16-speed Planetary Gearbox Nuseti

The heart of IDS is a 16-speed planetary gearbox. This gearbox provides a gear range of 570%. Nuseti gearbox as well as other working elements such as chain, chain-rings, free-wheel of this bike are completely enclosed in the frame construction and remain permanently lubricated. The working elements don’t get contaminated with dust, mud, etc., which makes the drive free from frequent maintenance and very durable. The IDS is absolutely unaffected by weather conditions and always works at its highest efficiency, even riding in the worst conditions rider can imagine.

Body Frame Of Nuseti

The IDS is equipped with a quick-release rear wheel axle that allows for quick and easy wheel releasing without any contact with greased elements (chain, chain-rings). Gear shifting is based on single lever trigger shifters – one on the right side for selecting slower gears, and one on the left side for selecting faster gears.

The IDS allows for switching gears without pedaling, which means that riders don’t have to turn the cranks just to engage the selected gear. Once rider clicks the trigger, the gear is immediately ready for use. Furthermore, the IDS allows for switching gears under full pedaling power. This means that riders don’t have to reduce their pedaling force only to switch gears while riding steep sections.

At present, the Nuseti mountain bike makers are trying to collect a fund of £500,000 by Aug 30, 2014 (4:00 PM +06:00) via Kickstarter. As of writing, the team has collected £4,454 from 47 backers. Minimum pledge starts from £5. Here’s a video of the Nuseti mountain bike.
