Support For iOS 6 Media Uploads Will Be Added To WordPress Blogs Later This Year

Blogging is a wildly popular concept in today’s social media, with millions of users hooked up to different blogging platforms such as  Blogger, WordPress and Tumblr. These platforms keep rolling out newer and better features so as to make that platform a better choice for the users. For instance, WordPress has now announced that soon, WordPress bloggers will be able to upload media to their blogs via their iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch devices.

This new feature has now been confirmed by Automattic. According to a spokesperson, “Support for this feature is planned in future releases of both WordPress and WordPress.com.”

Apple has a huge role in making this possible since when it announced iOS 6 during the WWDC 2012 event, it stated that the mobile Safari browser had been updated in the new firmware so as to let users upload media right from their Photo Library with the help of a regular HTML input.

Mobile browsers can still be used to load content to wordpress but uploading media files to the blogs via mobile browsers is somewhat of a nuisance right now. Currently, a user has to manually add support for this by using the HTML File input element but not many bloggers would want to go into the technical realm to accomplish this.

Without a doubt, this new move is going to be very welcome by bloggers since mobile browsing is the rage of the day. Once WordPress starts supporting the feature, users will be able to upload media by simply logging into WordPress installation or hosted account from their iOS devices.

For iPad users too, it is a great deal since with this upgrade, they will be able to accomplish more or less all the standard tasks of a WordPress blog, something which wasn’t possible on a mobile device earlier.
