How To Block Text Messages On Android

Sending a text eliminates the need to make a phone call. This makes texting a more convenient way of communicating with our friends and family. But if you are receiving unwanted Texts from unknown people, that might become a distraction. Sometimes unwanted texts can also make your life toxic.

You might consider notifying the sender of these unwanted messages that you are not okay with receiving them. But why put it at the discretion of the sender, when you can play an active role rather than being the passive one. You can block unwanted numbers sending you irrelevant and hateful texts. This feature is very helpful to avoid receiving explicit and unwanted texts. Also, if you have kids and don’t want them to be receiving texts from unknown people, you should put those numbers on the block list.

Add to Spam

You probably know about the Blocking feature. Every phone has it. You can block numbers to avoid receiving unwanted calls as well as texts.

  • Open your Messages App.
  • Tap on the Menu icon sitting at the upper right corner.
  • Select Blocked Contacts.
  • Tap on Add a Number to add a new number to your Block List.

However different phones might have different Messaging Apps. This means you might have to follow different methods in order to block messages. For example, if you are using a Google Pixel Phone, follow the below instructions.

  • Open Messenger App.
  • Open any random Message Threads.
  • Tap More (Three Dots)>> People and options>> Block.

On a Samsung phone follow the below steps.

  • Navigate to Messages >> More >> Settings.
  • Block Messages>> Block Numbers.
