The e4200 is not all its cracked up to be, the NAS on it hss sad slow speeds, cisco was a good name to trust but ill tell you what i have had this router for 6 days and an WD 2tb external hooked up to it and none of it works, im lucky if i get 2mb speed on it, and then not to metion the folders that change permissions on you, and wont let you upload to them, and good luck getting the admin username and password on the admin and guest account, and lets not forget the terrible customer service noone seams to have any answers there all they tell you is HQ will calll you back in 24 hours, yea right ive been waiting 5 days for a call and i call them every day, think its time to return this buggy router till they find a way to make it work, they remind me of microsoft releasing products and letting the consumer be the beta tester for all the bugs

The e4200 works fabulously, and it’s easy for a novice to set up. But not so fast on the USB external storage! I’ve got a 1 TB Western Digital My Book for Mac external hard drive and the router will not ‘see’ it no matter what I try. Yes, I’ve upgrated the firmware and the Cisco Connect software. Still no external HD. Linksys has a ‘approved’ list of external devices the router will see, but given the universe of external devices the list is prohibitively small. One of my goals was obviously to go wireless, the other goal was to have my music and photos streamed. I may have to send this router back.

Range on the e4200 sucks.  Unstable and really shoddy.  Can’t beleive I got suckered into buying this thing.  450MBs?  Try 72Mbps on the 2.4 on a good day.  Even with my Lenovo X201 I only got 224MBps out of it…and this was supposedly the unit they tested their 450Mbps with.  Range?  Well I have  ahome that is 2 stories tall and roughly 30×60.  Putting the unit in the basement with my ONT, and then simply trying to get a signal 2 stories up in the bedroom, results in 19MBps.  Complete trash.  Cisco support had me changing channels, and modifying the MTU, etc…and finally said there was ntohign they coudl do!  Done with China/Malaysia Cisco crap.
