Existing Jailbreak Process Does Not Work With iOS 6

Jailbreaking iOS devices are a great way to enjoy more freedom on them and to use the stock of apps which Apple wouldn’t normally offer on its devices. However, the fundamental problem with jailbreaks is that with every new release of iOS firmware, the earlier jailbreaks become invalid. Same is the case with the release of iOS 6.

iOS hackers had poured a lot of hard work into creating an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1, the last firmware release by Apple. Many iOS hackers had collaborated to create the jailbreak which was first offered through Absinthe 2.0.

And now, with the release of iOS 6, Absinthe 2.0 is no longer of any use. That is the case if you have updated to iOS 6. In case you wish to keep your jailbreak intact until a jailbreak for iOS 6 is release, you must stick to the current firmware iOS 5.1.1. This way, your jailbreak won’t be broken.

For those who want to enjoy the new features offered in iOS 6, they must do so while in knowledge of the fact that their jailbreak will be invalid the moment they upgrade to iOS 6. According to the notable iOS hacker, MuscleNerd, iOS 6 renders many different jailbreaking tools useless and breaks a lot of stuff, including Cydia.

However, for some users, new features in iOS 6 such as Facebook and Twitter links in Notification Center, fullscreen mode in Safari and other offerings may end the need to accomplish jailbreak. Nonetheless, either way we will have to wait quite a while before we can expect a jailbreak for iOS 6 in the open.
