Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer Is Content With No iPad Support In Office

We have been hearing for a while that Microsoft is secretly working on an Office app for the iPad tablets. So far these rumors have proven futile. The software giant recently unveiled the new updates that will be coming to Office 2013 and Office 365, and yet we hear no talk of an iPad app.

Office for iPad

In more than one ways, rolling out an Office app for iPad makes a lot of sense for Microsoft. The Office suite is fairly popular across the users around the globe, regardless of the mobile platform they use. So the company can acquire a sizable number of new users for its Office suite by launching an iOS app.

However, somehow Microsoft seems to be shying away from such a prospect. In fact, it is content with whatever user base it is currently catering. This was manifest in the words of Steve Ballmer, Microsoft’s CEO, when he talked about the launch of recent Office updates.

According to him, “I have nothing to say on that topic. We’re very glad with the product, very happy with the product that we’re putting in market. It makes sense on the devices like the Mac and the PC. We have a product that we think makes a lot of sense. We do have a way for people always to get to Office through the browser, which is very important. And we’ll see what we see in the future.”

In view of what he says, it seems that for now, all iPad users can do is wait for an Office app to come their way, if indeed Microsoft has any such plans in the near future.
