Nokia May Replace Their Maps With Bing Maps In Windows Phone 8

Nokia has been more and more involved in the Windows Phone platform, something that is understandable given the fact that Nokia’s future pretty much depends on the success of its Windows Phone smartphones. It is now being reported that in the upcoming iteration of Windows Phone, namely Windows Phone 8, Microsoft’s Bing Maps will be replaced with Nokia Maps.

Windows Phone 8 is expected to be unveiled by Microsoft some time soon. And it is also expected that the company may afford us a glimpse of the feature of the upcoming release during its Windows Phone Summit on June 20th. However, ahead of this event, different rumors and reportedly leaked news regarding Windows Phone 8 are surfacing.

One such report by WPCentral claims that in Windows Phone 8, Microsoft’s Bing Maps will be replaced with Nokia Maps and this change will be implemented across all Windows Phone devices. Moreover, Nokia Maps will come equipped with 3D navigation as well as hardware acceleration.

WPCentral also makes a number of other claims regarding Windows Phone 8. According to it, Windows Phone 8 will come with Skype integration and an NFC wallet. Moreover, camera improvements are also expected in this new release.

However, for Windows Phone users who had been hoping for a voice-based assistant from Microsoft, they apparently will have to wait longer since Windows Phone 8 won’t include any such feature.  Windows Phone 8 is also expected to include better hardware support for multi-core processors, something which may finally allow a ramping up of the specs of Windows Phone devices.
