Nokia Plans To Launch Pulse App For iOS And Android

Although Nokia’s primary presence in the smartphone world is mainly due to it’s flagship line of Lumia devices, the company is also eyeing the lucrative industry of apps for iOS and Android devices. Nokia already has Pulse app, a powerful app which is basically a social-networking-location app, being run on a number of platforms which include Symbian, Windows Phone, Meego and mobile platform. Now, the company has plans of offering the same app for iOS and Android.

Although the app is by no means a comparison to the mainstream social media networks such as Twitter or Facebook, it still is quite useful. Given it’s history with the mobile platform, users do know about it and it may pick a fan-following in the smartphone world once it makes it’s debut on iOS and Android devices.

According to Nokia’s Global Head of Social and Location-Based Applications, “To be social, you have to be on every platform.” This is precisely the philosophy which is pushing the company towards the development of a Pulse app for both iOS and Android. The question is, can this app be any successful in the huge iOS and Android world, given the fact that there are already a number of social-networking related apps doing their rounds on the app markets of both these platforms.

We can know this only once Nokia launches the app. In other plans, Nokia hopes to launch a suite of inter-connected Nokia apps, something which will necessarily have to be tied mainly with the Nokia devices but may be offered, in a slightly different flavor to non-Nokia platforms.
