Kinect For Windows Media Center App Now Available

Microsoft’s Kinect has jolted the company into the realm of motion-sensor hardware products. Initially, Microsoft developed it only as an auxiliary to Xbox 360 but given the immense popularity of Kinect and the fact that many hailed it as an excellent motion-sensor device, Microsoft has apparently decided to launch it with it’s other mainstream products. We have already heard of Kinect working with Windows. Now we have Kinect for Windows Media Center, an app which is available for $6.99.

You can make use of this app if you tool Windows 7. The app allows gesture and voice control support for Windows 7 Media Center. You are able to navigate through the Media Center through hand swipes, pinches, taps, holds and waves. All of these gestures control particular, individual actions. And just by performing these gestures, the app lets you perform the real functions on your Media Center.

Interestingly, the voice control which comes with the app is not just any voice control. When Media Center is playing some music on your system, it’s sound will definitely be quite high and in comparison, your voice commands may mean nothing to the system. But the developers have taken well care of this. They have built the software so that the audio from the Media Center does not interfere with your voice commands and you easily able to give the voice commands. Moreover, whenever you want, you can turn off both motion control and voice commands and make do without them.
