Microsoft Updates Office 2013 RT Preview To Final Version Ahead Of Schedule

It has been reported that Microsoft is rolling out an update to the Office 2013 RT Preview. The update essentially upgrades the software from its preview mode to a full version and removes the ‘Preview’ branding from it.

This means that when users of RT tablets start using their slates on October 26th, they would be able to use the full version of Office 2013 RT Preview.

The company had released a RTM version of both Office 2013 and Office 2013 RT at the start of this month and we were told that an upgrade would be released later to turn these preview versions into full versions.

Back then, Microsoft had promised that the upgrade will happen some time between November and January through Windows Update. One of the chief problems with the preview version of Office 2013 RT was that it wasn’t optimized for touch input, something which may have caused problems for the early adopters of Windows RT tablets.

However, it now seems that the company has changed its mind about that and has started rolling out the said update well ahead of time. The update is sized at 580MB and can be installed via Windows Update. The good thing about the update is that it comes packed with a ‘Touch Mode’ which will make it sit well with the RT tablet users.
