Nvidia And Microsoft Churn Out Tegra 3 Test Machines For Windows 8 Developers

While at one side, Windows 8 is gradually gaining traction, at the other, Microsoft is also working rapidly on it’s plans to have support for ARM-based systems in this new OS. Nvidia and Microsoft are actively collaborating to distribute systems running Tegra 3 chips to Windows 8 developers. These PCs are being distributed to software developers and also to device manufacturers.


What Microsoft has originally planned is to launch Windows 8 with support for Qualcomm chips, ARM-based systems and as always, for Intel-based PCs. A day earlier, Microsoft and Qualcomm announced a partnership too. And now the new of Nvidia working with Microsoft to produce ARM-based test machines has arrived.

Microsoft has all plans to create an entire ecosystem around it’s upcoming Windows 8, so that by the time the full version of the OS is released, it is able to fully cater to ARM-based system as well as other supported platforms. According to a Microsoft official, “Microsoft is excited to partner with NVIDIA to bring developers leading edge Windows on ARM test PCs to support the creation of compelling Metro style app and device experiences for Windows 8.”

However, Microsoft, or Nvidia, hasn’t divulged the details of what exactly is being worked on and when may we hear definitive news regarding process on the ARM front by Microsoft developers. Nonetheless, if you are a Windows 8 developers, you now get  to use ARM hardware to test the OS, as an additional option.
