Learn Game Programming Within 3D Game – “Code Hero”

Learning through games has been an expanding trend in recent times. Games are interactive and interesting, so people tend to learn fast through them. That is why a number of companies have developed learning tools embedded within 3D games. The latest Kickstarter project ‘Code Hero’ has just taken the bar a notch higher. It is a unique 3D adventure game which lets you learn game programming from within a 3D game! In this way, it is a remarkable feat.

So how does this all work? Well…in normal shooting games, you get to shoot bullets and what-nots. The difference in this game is that rather than shooting bullets, you have to shoot Javascript code snippets at different objects. You fire these code snippets through ‘code gun.’These code elements change the actual objects of the game, giving you an immense, immediate sense of fulfilment.

You get to choose from a number of different missions. During the game play, you are being mentored by the pioneers in computing world, Ada Lovelace and Charles Babbage. The best thing about this game is that you don’t merely play game or learn, you also get to create a game of your own within a 3D game!

Although the regular game is free, you can donate a certain amount and then gain access to a private beta of the game. The beta version of the game are currently available with Windows and Mac but the Kickstart team has plans for Linux, Android and iOS variants. Also, there are a number of levels for donations.
