Mercury Active Acquired Mobile Game Developer Riptide Games

Riptide Games is a next-gen mobile game developer based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Riptide makes My Pet Zombie, Spin O Rama! and many more games by creating entertaining experiences across all mobile platforms. But lately, Canadian digital entertainment company Mercury Active, a subsidiary of independent animation house Mercury Filmworks, has bought Riptide Games.

Mercury Active announced on February 3 that it had acquired mobile gaming experts Riptide Games Corp. Riptide Games founder Brian Robbins, “I’m extremely excited for the future of the properties we have created. I couldn’t think of a better home for our games than Mercury Active.”

Mike Montgomery will join Mercury Active as Chief Creative Officer (CCO). Operation of Riptide Games will be consolidated at Mercury Active Ottawa studio facilities. Mercury Active said, “I am thrilled to be joining  as CCO. This is a unique opportunity to create mobile experiences for an even broader audience.”

It is being hoped that Mercury Active will bring new excitements, graphics and many more features in Riptide Games. Mercury Active is going to attend Kidscreen Summit in New York City, February 5-8, 2013. Hopefully we’ll come to know more then.
