Next-Generation Xbox Will Come With Siri Like Feature

Hints and leaks about the next-generation Xbox are starting to hit the web. A while ago, we reported how the next-generation won’t work without an internet connection. Now, we have been told that the upcoming console will also pack highly improved speech recognition, just like Siri.

According to the sources close to latest developments on the new Xbox, Microsoft has significantly improved its speech recognition software and intends to implement it in Xbox. The new Xbox will pack a number of voice-based features such as speech-to-text, natural language controls and wake on voice. In other words, if the speech recognition of the gadget turns out to be good enough, all you’d have to do is say ‘Xbox on’ when you walk into the room and the console would boot up.

Moreover, Microsoft is also trying to find newer ways to leverage its Kinect motion-control technology to pair up nicely with upcoming game console. One use that it can be put to, is that Kinect would detect the sheer number of players in a room, allowing the speech recognition software to register their voices. It will then suggest which multiplayer games will be most suited to the gathering.

Other features that will also be arriving on the new game console include voice-based search, Skype as well as the ability to auto-save a movie-watching session so that you can resume watching it later. The next Xbox is expected to arrive sometime later this year and Microsoft may divulge a few official details of the gadget ahead of its release.
