Screen Names And Passwords Of Ubisoft Users Exposed In Hacking

Wide-scale hacking episodes are becoming increasingly frequent in the digital arena. The latest to suffer from such hacking attempts is Ubisoft, the popular video game developer. According to reports, the screen names and passwords of as-yet-unknown number of Ubisoft users have been exposed in a recent hack.

Apparently, the hackers were able to use the stolen credentials of some users to gain access to the online network of Ubisoft. Once the online network was accessible, these hackers were then able to lay their hands on the screen names as well as passwords of Ubisoft users.

Much to the relief of the users, Ubisoft has stated that it does not store their credit card information or any other financial data, which means that the hackers can’t sabotage their financial activity. According to an official post by the company, “It’s important to note that no personal payment information is stored with Ubisoft, so fortunately all credit/debit card information was safe from this intrusion.”

However, the company did suggest that all such users who have been affected by the breach must change their passwords. Unlike other major networks such as LinkedIn, Ubisoft didn’t automatically reset the passwords. Rather, the company sent an email to all affected users, prompting them to manually tweak their passwords so that they can avoid any adverse consequences as a result of the hack.

Ubisoft has also stated, at the same time, that it is working with authorities to deal with the hack and ensure that any such incidents do not happen in the future.
