A Giant 40-inch White iPhone 4

Benjamin Bachmeier has built himself a 40-inch iPhone table that can be used as a computer or a TV and the dubbed iTableous the system can run Mac or Windows and features 4GB of RAM, a 500GB hard drive, a 5.7MP camera, 720p video recording, a dock connector in the home button, a cooling system, and more. Benjamin Bachmeier called it iTableous and it doesn’t run iOS or have multi-touch but is impressive nonetheless………..

Benjamin Bachmeier turned a 40-inch LCD Full HD display into a perfect giant iPhone replica and it doesn’t run iOS but Mac OS X, but it’s gigantic buttons are fully functional. Bachmeier has indeed managed to get the whole look down with the only thing looking out of place being the thickness and the bezel around the screen. It’s made up of a Toshiba LED-LCD Full HD 1080p display, a DVD player, a 4.1ch sound system, your usual USB/HDMI/eSATA/Ethernet ports and a 5.7 megapixel camera with 720p video recording. Inside, there is a 2GHz processor, 4GB of DDR2 RAM and a 500GB hard drive. It runs Mac OS X 10.6.7 Snow Leopard and Windows 7 Professional. The buttons on its sides are actually useable since they perform the usual functions of increasing/decreasing volume, powering up the computer and resetting it etc. This isn’t a multi-touch screen nor does it run iOS. It really basically is your average PC placed inside a meticulously crafted white iPhone 4 case.

What is iTableous?

The idea came while watching various DIY projects on the net. The idea to build an iPhone in the form of a table is not new. The implementation has mot nearly convinced me so far. This is probably because I like to expect a certain functionality of the products I use. In short, I wanted to do it better and have tinkered four months.

What can iTableous?

Quite a lot and I think for a “table” enough. This includes Full HD TV reception via DVB-T, an integrated DVD player, a mini-ITX board with dual boot option (OSX SL and Win 7), a 4 +1 sound system, a HD-cam, of course a microphone, external connections (Line In and USB), iPhone-Connection via Apple AV Composite Cable under the home button and other small things.
