Apple May Be Readying A Polycarbonate iPhone Priced At $330

A number of rumors have surfaced regarding the upcoming iPhone offerings from Apple. Some claim that a larger iPhone is on its way while others speculate that Apple may finally be planning to release an iPhone mini. Now, a fresh report from Japan suggests that Apple is readying two distinct iPhone models, one of them featuring a polycarbonate body.

iPhone 5S

According to Macotakara, Apple will be offering two iPhone models as part of its next iPhone release. One of these would be a regular successor to iPhone 5 and will be featuring a 4.5-inch display, compared to the 4-inch display found on iPhone 5.

At the same time, the blog claims, Apple is also working on a low-priced polycarbonate iPhone. This iPhone will feature the same polycarbonate body which Apple once used on entry-level MacBook machines. Due to the use of polycarbonate, this iPhone will be thicker than iPhone 5 and apparently more durable.

Other than that, this cheaper iPhone will feature more or less the same outlook and features as the regular iPhone models. The most enticing part is the price tag of this purported iPhone which the blog pegs at $330. If indeed this turns out to be true, it would seem that Apple is trying to push the iPhone brand into developing markets where the high-end iPhone’s price has dissuaded many users.

However, these claims by the Japanese blog can barely be treated as anything more than speculations. Until we hear an official word from Apple on this, we will take such claims with a grain of salt.
