Apple Releases Fifth Beta Of iOS 7 To Developers

Apple has been dishing out iOS 7 betas at a fairly fast pace. The company released the fourth beta of the new iOS version only a week or so ago and now, has rolled out yet another beta of the upcoming version. Developers can now get their hands on the fifth beta of iOS 7.

iOS 7 concept

Beta 5 was released by Apple on Tuesday morning. In the notes accompanying the release, the company stated that the new beta doesn’t bring any significant updates to the earlier releases. Rather, according to Apple, beta 5 serves merely to patch a few bugs and bring other minor improvements to iOS 7.

iOS 7 is among Apple’s major mobile OS releases, especially because the company has overhauled the outlook of many things in this new release. Apple has not only tweaked the general look and feel of the OS, but has also reworked the icons, probably for the first time since the start of iOS itself.

When Apple released iOS 6, it was preceded by five betas. On the other hand, iOS 5 was released only after eight betas. So there is no definite number of betas that Apple releases before every new iOS version. Since iOS 7 packs many new features as well as a revamped design, we are expecting that Apple will still release a few more betas before the new versions gets to be released later this year.

This expectation is further reaffirmed by the fact that Apple is expected to build certain features into iOS 7, such as thumbprint scanner. And these features are yet to be offered in any of the pre-release betas.
