Typically, Apple makes windfall sales during the December quarter of the year because of the holiday season. This time was no different and estimates from analysts put Apple’s iPhone sales from the last quarter at more than 50 million units.
Apple’s iPhone sales haven’t made many headlines during 2013 but the fact remains that Apple is still a top seller in the smartphone arena. The company has quietly ramped up its sales volume without making a lot of noise. And now that Apple has sealed a deal with China Mobile, the numbers may grow rapidly during this year.
As far as 2013 estimates go, averaging of some 40 or so analysts shows that Apple probably sold 53.5 million iPhone units during the holiday quarter. Of course some analysts have offered a tad bit more conservative numbers, with Pacific Crest’s Andy Hargreaves pegging the figure at 50.93 million.
But there are others who have gone above the average, and the highest number among them comes from Merill Lynch’s Scott Craig. According to Craig, Apple probably sold 58.5 million units during the said quarter.
In the eyes of the other analysts, the figure is somewhere between this aforementioned high and low. Either way, what we know for sure is that Apple has sold more than 50 million iPhone units during the quarter and this marks a huge year-over-year increase in the company’s sales.
Some independent analysts have offered unusually high estimates of 59 million or more but that may be stretching it. We will know for sure in a few days once Apple ousts its quarterly profits, sales and other important statistics.
