Tech analysts are hunting for any hints that may suggest the hardware that will go into the next iPhone from Apple. While there hasn’t been a lot of confirmed successes here, 9to5mac is now claiming that it has discovered some of the hardware details of iPhone 5 in the code dumps of the debugger from the prototype of next iPhone.

According to reports, the next iPhone will be using Broadcom’s BCM4334 Dual-Band wi-fi chip. So what is so extraordinary about this chip? Well, for a start, Broadcom claims that in BCM4334, it has been able to reduce the power consumption by a whopping 40 – 50 %.

This sure can be mean a lot for next iPhone which will potentially use a larger screen and any power saving from other components will we welcome. Moreover, Broadcom also says that the standby power of BCM4334 has been reduced by a whopping 3 orders of magnitude.

Moreover, this chip also has a dual-band Wi-Fi with Wi-Fi Direct. According to Broadcom, “The combo device also features advanced switching techniques that enable concurrent dual-band operation to simultaneously support network connectivity with one band while also allowing content streaming via technologies such as Wi-Fi Display and Wi-Fi Direct.”

With these chips, Apple may be successfully able to offset the load of battery power that will go into the larger screen and LTE radio. By cutting the power of the rest of the components, Apple may also ensure the sustenance of the battery life, or even may succeed in prolonging it in the next iPhone.
