Apple’s Siri Stops Working – Having Server Problems, Users Say

A large number of iPhone 4S users were in for a shock on Nov 20, 2011 when Siri stopped working on their devices. The only answer they were given by the service was “Sorry, I am having trouble connecting to the network.”

Siri is one of the key reasons why iPhone 4S has mesmerized the world. It’s perhaps the best voice-based personal client ever and has been working rather flawlessly until now. However, it seems like Siri is having some problems right now as a large number of users are unable to use the service on their devices.

Network Connectivity Problems:
According to the users on Apple’s support forums, everytime they try to use Siri, it prompts the same response, “Sorry, I am having trouble connecting to the network.” Some users have reported that after restarting the service or restarting the phone, the service started working fine and the problem went away. But for yet many other users, the problem continues to persist.

A number of users are also making suggestions on the forums on how to solve the problem, which are working for some but not for others. It has been posted over and over again on the forums that the problem may be due to iCloud settings and that the users who are experiencing the problem should reset their iCloud. However, even that has failed to resolve the problem for many users. “Did that, still down” says a user.

Some users have speculated that perhaps it’s the result of an overload on Siri server.  But this seems quite improbable because Siri is working just fine with most phones.

Good grief, just face the fact that Siri is crap.  It tries to do too much, BE too much, rather than just sticking to simple, obvious command interactions.  Quit trying to be HAL 9000.  You can only set so many alarms, folks.  Sheesh.
