French Comic “Largo Winch” Hints At Future iBooks Update

An update to Apple’s iBook application may be on the horizon as hinted by French Comic book Largo WinchWhen issue 18 was released to the public yesterday, the release notes claimed “iBooks 3.0 or later” was required.

iBooks 3.0 Update

The last update enforced to iBooks was 2.2, released one month ago — simply adding support for iOS 6. We aren’t certain of what iBooks 3.0 will bring to the table, but with the iPad Mini coming soon, it may add support for the smaller-sized display. Also keep in mind the timetable —  the update was posted just days behind the ‘special’ Apple event.

The Largo Winch comic book updated was spotted by French blog iGen on Friday. Largo Winch is popular graphic novel among many French citizens — a film even originated out of the comic series.

An assumption made by Forbes speculates “visual books” may be introduced in the 3.0 iBooks update. That would be an addition even Amazon lacks on its Kindle devices. We’ll find out officially on Tuesday, October 23rd, when Apple holds the iPad Mini announcement in San Jose, California.
