Infographic Evolution Of iPhone

IntoMobile has produced a simple yet interesting infographic outlining the riseof a device which may still not have yet reached its peak with the 5th device expected in just over a month and literally every aspect has seen a dramatic improvement. The most incredible thing to think about is just how far the iPhone has come since its first release back in the winter of 2007 and the original iPhone was light years ahead of it’s time and Apple has yet to let us down with any of the newer releases…………….

Apple watchers and enthusiasts have been waiting more than a year for the next iteration of the company’s line of smartphones since the iPhone 4 was released in early June of 2010. But the wait is almost over: All signs point to an October release date for the iPhone 5, which will be, with its rumored 8MP camera and dual-core processor. IntoMobile put together the infographic embedded and avoided some of the more ridiculous rumors about the smartphone and everything presented here seems plausible if not guaranteed. What is interesting, though, is looking at the rapid evolution of the iPhone line since it first debuted on January 9, 2007. Infographics are always a bit of a hodgepodge of statistics culled from a variety of sources. Here, some of favorite facts and figures:

  • It is assumed that the iPhone 5 will run on a 1GHz A5 dual-core processor. The processor in Apple’s line of smartphones has been upgraded several times since the first iPhone debuted.
  • The iPhone 5 is rumored to have an 8MP auto-focus camera, which is a big improvement on previous cameras, which have been auto-focus since the iPhone 3GS, but never 8MP.
  • Like the iPhone 4, it is assumed that the next iteration of the iPhone line will have a front camera, built-in GPS, and display that measures 640×960 pixels. (The display on the first two iPhones — the iPhone and the iPhone 3G — was only 320×480 pixels.)
  • When the iPhone 5 is finally released in October, there will be more than 500,000 apps for it available in the Apple Store. That’s more than double what was available at the time of the iPhone 4’s launch (June 7, 2010), and more than ten times the number (50,000) available on June 8, 2009, when the iPhone 3GS hit shelves.
